i will admit that i have played the art student card before. this gets me the ability to not shower for the day and just wear a hat, i don't have to worry about messy clothes or any of that, because hey, i'm an art student. but this kid is abusing the rule. right now he has pajama pants, a stocking cap, a bathrobe, a rope belt for said pajama pants, loafers of some kind and a shirt with pleather sleaves. thats right, pleather sleaves. i'm all for wearing what ever your idea of style is, but this is just plain lazy. though i guess without him, i wouldn't have anything to blog about right now. um. kudos pleather sleaves wearing man.

thats right, you knew this post was coming. katie has called it a virtual depiction of an STD. seeing as 2/3 of stout has both i guess that would accurate. and honestly, thats really all i think about it. don't touch it much unless i get an email saying some person i don't know added me as a friend at which point i turn them down. i think thats actually more fun then finding friends.

some weekend happenings

went ballroom dancing saturday night, learned the foxtrot, tango and hussle. it was pretty fun. bought a 1GB flash drive. thats about it.

my new thing to do while bored in class is snoop through other people's computers. the default password on the macs is student and since most art students don't know how to change their password or don't care i can connect as a user. this lets me walk through their computer as an admin. people have some pretty crazy things.

sick as a dog

a demon has invaded my body, it stuffs my nose and squeezes my lungs. i don't want to move. why, of all days, did it have to show up on my four class day. at least i don't have to work very much, i think i'm only going to go to one of my classes. be happy mr. dehoff, i'm a little bit crazy, so you'll see me today...

sitting in the msc

even though tuesdays are my longest days i don't really mind them so much. i get to see katie in the morning. classes aren't so bad, art history kinda sucks, but if i wanted to i could just shoot for a B and just study the slide lists and terms she hands out. Fiction to film isn't bad either, i've learned that i don't really have to take notes during the movies because i can just write down everything he says during lecture, because he pretty much goes over the movie scene by scene. then i get this nice lunch break in between my last class and work, which i dont' get most days. work at the science wing always goes pretty quick, and i get a "break" to go work at the stoutonia with katie. if we finish early i get to be with her till i have to go back to ask5000, which again, isn't so bad, that and its me and alex in charge of the science wing.

my cough drops expire in 2007, i think i might save one till then.

you know whats fun, hand writing fonts for 3 hours at a time. know whats even better, listening to a guy talk about handwriting fonts for 3 hours. i'm pretty sure they made computers and word processors so we didn't have to do this. they have monks for this kind of thing...

alex had a guy come up to the help desk who said his mac was crashing when he ran just a couple of programs, so alex kept starting programs to see if he could get the mac to crash. eventually he filled the whole dock and it looked like this

Dropped off my bike to be fixed, apparently they are very backed up right now so i won't have my bike until wednesday, that means i'm a full time walker now. its not so much the walking that bothers me, its the fact that i have to wake up 10 mins earlier than i would if i had my bike. maybe i'll start using the roller blades.

wierd, i think the guy that just walked by was using a ladies perfume. that or he's friendly with a girl who wears a lot of it herself.

i like fiction, and i like film but this class is so very boring. maybe its because i've seen both of the movies we've watched so far.
hopefully when we get to a movie or book i haven't seen/read then it will get more exciting.

i've decided against ideation, iteration and synthesis.

design theory and methods. explain an idea in a power point presentation using visual media. thats what i'm supposed to be doing, instead i've been doodling. almost wish i had a scanner so i cuold post the doodles. oh well. i want to buy an ipod nano, need a new mother board because the one i have is a piece of crap. got a new computer case, i'll post pictures of that later, along with picture of the rigging that had to be done due to the crappy mother board. not too excited about any of my classes right now. wonder if thats a bad sign. still haven't finished unpacking, being rather lazy about that. work is good. stoutonia is the same as last year, i show up, design ads, leave. ask5000 isn't too bad, a lot of people don't know shit about computers.

Lady - "i'm not getting a wireless signal."

Me - "where are you on campus?"

Lady - "i'm at home"

Me - "do you know where the wireless router is in your home?"

Crazy Lady - "YOU MEAN I HAVE TO BUY ONE? WHAT?! I PAY ALL THIS TUITION AND I HAVE TO BE AT THE SCHOOL TO USE MY COMPUTER?!! THATS SHIT!"

Me - "I'm sorry you feel that way but it isn't the school's responsibility to provide you internet access at home."

Crazy Emotionally Unstable Lady - [in tears] "But what am i going to do...." [click]

Me - "oops forgot to ask for a user name"

so yeah, not too many calls exactly like that, but a lot of people who call react that way, especially when you tell them we aren't allowed to back up thier stolen music. or when people bring in a computer damn near bent in half... but it came that way so they don't think they should be charged at all to fix it. Or those oh so computer savy people who "know" what they're doing and "have tried everything they could think of" and really only made the computer worse. like the guy who came in that could get his hotmail to work and when he tried to fix it he somehow screwed up his EXE LNK assosiation.

well, thats out of my system, oh wait, one more thing
